Este veterinario te habla sobre una realidad indignante que debemos luchar por cambiar

Carlos Rodríguez lleva 30 años trabajando como veterinario y, como podéis imaginar, ha visto de todo. Después de cientos de intervenciones y una amplia experiencia ante situaciones de maltrato animal, este veterinario afirma que jamás habría imaginado que se encontraría con un caso como el que tuvo que enfrentar el pasado 12 de junio de 2015: unos niños se habían dedicado a patear a una gatita de a penas dos meses como si de un balón se tratase.

Las lesiones del pequeño animal eran gravísimas: una fractura en el fémur y desgarramiento de la pared abdominal, que hubo que reconstruir mediante una abdominoplastia. A sus 51 años, Rodríguez cuenta que nunca había visto nada igual, pero lo que más le llama la atención (y a nosotros también) es el orígen de este maltrato.

¿En qué clase de sociedad vivimos en la que unos niños que deberían ser inocentes se dedican a patear a un animal indefenso? ¿Qué ocurre con la educación? ¿De quién es la responsabilidad? Y sobre todo, ¿por qué no existen medios eficaces para proteger la vida de tantos y tantos animales que se ven en situaciones similares?

Durante los días posteriores a las operaciones de Broken, Carlos Rodríguez colgó en su canal de Youtube vídeos en los que se veía la evolución favorable de la gatita. Sin embargo, a pesar de la intervención de la mujer que rescató al pobre animal de aquellos vándalos y de la labor del equipo veterinario que alargó su vida, hoy hemos conocido la lamentable noticia de su fallecimiento. Broken ha tenido una vida corta y terrible, pero durante unos días conoció el verdadero cariño de quien se preocupó por ella. Desde aquí queremos sumarnos al agradecimiento a todas aquellas personas que se interesaron por su estado y compartieron el vídeo a través de las redes sociales para denunciar tan despreciable acto.

Esta no es una historia feliz, pero debemos luchar porque esto no vuelva a suceder.
