Sacrifican 1010 visones por COVID

Esta es la tercera vez que se sacrifican visones por COVID en España, y es que la Junta de Castilla y León ha decidido dar la orden de sacrificar y destruir por completo todos los ejemplares de visón americano que se encontraban ubicados en una granja de Ávila, debido a que se ha demostrado la presencia de infección por SARS-CoV-2.

Seguramente, muchos de vosotros recordaréis un par de casos previos de sacrificios de visones por COVID en España, uno ocurrido en Teruel y otro en La Coruña, y en ambos casos una situación triste debido a la presencia del coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 que tanto está en la palestra en los últimos meses, debido a que no sólo ha cambiado nuestro estilo de vida, sino también el de muchos de los animales que hay en nuestro entorno.

De nuevo ha vuelto a ocurrir, aunque en esta ocasión en Ávila, donde un total de 1010 visones han tenido que ser sacrificados por haber enfermado de COVID, por lo que la Junta de Castilla y León ha tomado la decisión de optar por la medida más drástica pero que a la vez consideraba más segura tanto para las personas como para el resto de animales.

Todo ocurrió cuando uno de los trabajadores que se encontraba en las instalaciones con los visones, se empezó a encontrar mal, por lo que debido a los síntomas que presentaba, se le hicieron las pruebas PCR para detectar si era el caso de que había enfermado con COVID, a las cuales dio positivo.

Esto hizo que las autoridades considerasen que era adecuado comprobar que esta granja estuviese libre de virus y, en caso contrario, poder proceder para evitar los riesgos.

Cabe destacar que los animales estaban infectados, aunque todos ellos eran asintomáticos, de manera que en ningún momento se han observado síntomas o casos de mortalidad no justificada que hiciesen sospechar de la presencia de la enfermedad en la granja.

Ordenan sacrificar los 1010 visones enfermos de COVID

Debido a la gravedad de la enfermedad, en el mismo instante en el que las autoridades se enteraron del positivo de uno de los trabajadores de la granja, pusieron en marcha los protocolos contemplados para la prevención en estos casos, con el objetivo de averiguar si había algún otro trabajador o incluso si los propios animales se habían contagiado con la enfermedad.

En vista de que varios ejemplares habían dado positivo, se tomó la decisión de proceder a la inmediata inmovilización de la granja, restringiendo los movimientos de todas aquellas personas, animales y productos que hubiesen entrado en contacto con ella.

Cabe destacar que en los últimos meses, la granja había recibido varias visitas de profesionales a través de las cual se analizaba el entorno en busca de la presencia del virus, pero hasta el momento, en ninguna de ellas se había llegado a detectar nada.

De hecho, el 24 de noviembre de 2020 se tomaron muestras durante el proceso de obtención de pieles, con el objetivo de garantizar que toda la materia prima estaba completamente libre de virus y era segura.

Por desgracia, en los próximos meses e incluso en los próximos años, se espera que este tipo de situación se repita, ya que la única forma de evitar la propagación del virus es luchando contra él con las armas de las que disponemos, en este caso, el sacrificio de los visones americanos.
