Aumenta el número de mascotas huérfanas por el COVID
La enfermedad COVID es responsable del considerable aumento del número de mascotas huérfanas que se ha podido observar en estos últimos meses, dando lugar a historias desgarradoras y momentos verdaderamente duros para aquellas personas que han decidido dedicar un tiempo de sus vidas para ayudar a estas víctimas silenciosas.

En estos días estamos conociendo bastantes historias enternecedoras y que nos ponen la piel de gallina, gran parte de ellas relacionadas con las mascotas huérfanas, esas víctimas desconocidas que prácticamente pasan desapercibidas para la sociedad, pero que están viviendo una experiencia muy dolorosa e incluso traumática en algunos casos.
Debemos tener en cuenta que cada vez son más las mascotas que pierden a uno de los miembros de su familia, pero las que peor lo pasan son aquellas que tan sólo tenían a un propietario o incluso han perdido a todos los miembros que la conformaban, con lo cual, de repente, se quedan completamente solas y desamparadas.
De la noche a la mañana, toda la vida que conocían desaparece por completo; ya no queda nada de lo que había, sino que ha empezado una nueva fase muy dolorosa, en la que el objetivo es conseguir dejar atrás ese sufrimiento y dar los pasos al frente para volver a ser felices de nuevo.
Un buen ejemplo de esta experiencia es Alpha, una perra rescatada por El Refugio por el fallecimiento de su dueño, que acababa de morir por culpa del SARS-CoV-2.
Se trata de una perra joven, ya que tiene tan sólo seis años, y que de esta forma trágica se ha sumado a muchas decenas de otras que han perdido lo que más querían en el mundo que era sus dueños.

Está claro que las cosas ya nunca van a volver a ser como lo eran antes para estas mascotas, pero al menos debemos ser positivos en un sentido, y es que son varias las asociaciones que se están haciendo cargo de ellas, con el objetivo de encontrarles una familia que les pueda dar una segunda oportunidad con la que ser felices.
Sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta que son perros que en muchos casos incluso llegan a estar traumatizados, ya que no pueden llegar a entender la razón por la que, de repente, esa familia que tenían a su lado, que les daba de comer, les aportaba cariño y calor, ha desaparecido de forma brusca y sin dejar nada más que unos cuantos recuerdos apelotonados en su mente.
No hay duda alguna de que todas estas y otras muchas historias tanto de las que conoceremos como de las que nunca saldrán a la luz, deben ser capaces de abrirnos los ojos y hacer darnos cuenta de que realmente todo esto que está ocurriendo tiene mucha más trascendencia de la que podamos imaginar, y es que no sólo los seres humanos estamos siendo víctimas y nos vemos obligados a sacrificar nuestras vidas, sino que hay muchos animales que están viendo cómo el COVID se lleva por delante todo aquello a lo que más querían.
