Actualmente hay muchos animales que se encuentran en peligro de extinción, lo que hace que las autoridades y multitud de asociaciones hagan todo lo que está en sus manos para conseguir evitar este declive que puede acabar con muchas de las especies que conocemos a día de hoy. Los rinocerontes en peligro crítico y la necesidad de transportarlos
Los rinocerontes son una de las especies animales que se encuentran en un mayor peligro de extinción, hasta el punto que están catalogados en estado crítico.
Esto se debe fundamentalmente a la caza furtiva, la cual tiene como objetivo extraer el cuerno de estos animales para su venta en el mercado negro.
Esta situación se ha visto agravada en los últimos años, de forma paralela al fuerte crecimiento de la demanda de cuerno tanto en China como en otros países asiáticos.
Lo peor de todo es que, para obtener este cuerno, los furtivos utilizan la vía más rápida que es la de matar al animal, y de seguir esta tendencia, en pocos años la situación podría llegar incluso a ser irreversible, dando lugar a la extinción definitiva de esta especie animal tan característica y tan necesaria en el medio natural.
Esto ha hecho que en África sean muchas las asociaciones así como gobiernos que quieren cortar los vuelos de estos traficantes de cuerno de rinoceronte, para lo cual se han establecido diferentes políticas que incluyen desde sanciones hasta actuaciones directas para impedir el acceso y el sacrificio de estos animales de manos de los furtivos.
Pese a los grandes esfuerzos de gobiernos y asociaciones, lo cierto es que se trata de una tarea muy complicada, y es que las enormes extensiones hacen que sea muy difícil poder mantener un control efectivo que permita proteger a estos y otros animales que se están viendo seriamente amenazados por el hombre.
A menudo, una de las soluciones es la de transportar ejemplares de una zona a otra, por una parte para poder localizarlos en lugares que sean más accesibles y donde puedan ser más fácilmente defendidos, mientras que por la otra, se busca repoblar las ubicaciones de las que han desaparecido para intentar paliar los efectos negativos.

Pero transportar un animal de las dimensiones, peso y características del rinoceronte no es tarea fácil, y de hecho, la forma más segura de hacerlo es transportando al rinoceronte colgado de las patas, para lo cual es imprescindible la utilización de un helicóptero.
Según la WWF, este es el sistema más respetuoso con el animal, además de que también permite realizar los traslados de forma mucho más rápida, reduciendo así el estrés y los riesgos para la salud e integridad del rinoceronte.
No obstante, es inevitable que exista un fuerte debate alrededor de este sistema de transporte de rinocerontes, pero los expertos dejan claro que es mucho más seguro de lo que puede parecer, y de hecho, al ser transportados bocabajo, los riesgos para el animal se reducen de forma muy considerable, logrando mejorar su ventilación en contraposición con lo que ocurriría si se transportan tumbados de lado.
