Los delfines rosas del Amazonas y cómo el turismo puede acabar con ellos

Vamos a dejar una cosa clara: cuando quieres quedar bien en tus redes sociales, no todo vale. No puedes hacer lo que quieras por una buena foto o por algo que contar a tus conocidos, y mucho menos aprovecharte del sufrimiento de otros.

Los animales son víctimas de la actividad humana por muchos motivos, unos más debatibles que otros, pero cuando de saciar un capricho se trata, la tolerancia debería ser cero.

El turismo y el ocio son algunas de las prácticas que más sufrimiento acarrean a cientos de animales. Circos, acuarios y zoológicos son los más cercanos en nuestra cultura, pero cuando viajas a países exóticos la oferta se dispara.

Hacerte fotos con serpientes, montar en camello, dar un paseo a lomos de un elefante o nadar con delfines son solo algunas de las absurdas e innecesarias actividades que prometen muchas agencias de viajes. Es cierto que durante muchos años la conciencia social respecto a las consecuencias del turismo animal apenas existía, pero hoy en día somos muchos más los que vemos que este tipo de acercamiento al reino animal no solo no es natural, sino que es dañino.

Uno de los ejemplos más claros lo encontramos en algunas comunidades que viven a orillas del Amazonas, en zonas donde habitan unos curiosos delfines de color rosa. Lo has oído bien, delfines y de color rosa, carne de cañón para la actividad turística. El conocido como delfín rosadopertenece al Reino Animalia, Infra orden Cetácea, Familia Delphinidae, y su Género es Sousa y su especie Sousa Chinensis.

Los viajeros hacen colas para meterse en el agua y hacerse fotos con ellos. Les dan comida, los sacan del agua, los empujan y estresan solo por una foto que solo a ellos parece divertida.

El problema es que gran parte de la población de la zona vive de este tipo de actividades económicas. Cuando no se fomenta la educación y el respeto por nuestro entorno y te encuentras en zonas deprimidas con pocos recursos, es más difícil que arraigue una cultura de conservación.

Estos abusos y una forma de vida condicionada han ido modificando la conducta de los delfines que, en muchas ocasiones, no son capaces de conseguir su propio alimento. Están acostumbrados a que les den de comer y se han vuelto dependientes de los humanos.

Ahora que lo sabes, empieza a cambiar tu actitud si has caído en estas prácticas. Para empezar, si viajas, evita este tipo de actividades y busca otras que sean respetuosas con el medio ambiente. Si eres un verdadero amante de los animales no quieres verlos encerrados, atados ni en situaciones que no correspondan a su naturaleza, ¿cierto? Pregúntate siempre si puedes hacer algo mejor y preocúpate por difundir esta idea entre los tuyos, en especial entre los más pequeños.
