De pequeños los zoológicos nos parecían el lugar ideal donde pasar un día divertido viendo una cantidad increíble de animales exóticos que, de otro modo, sería imposible verlos tan de cerca. Que inocentes éramos entonces... con la edad te vas dando cuenta de que estos lugares son, en realidad, cárceles para animales y que la mayoría de los especímenes que se encuentran allí no están tan bien como pudiera parecer.

Mucha gente no se ha parado a pensar lo que pueden llegar a sufrir estos animales por estar encerrados en un espacio bastante más pequeño de lo que necesitarían para poder vivir a gusto. Aun estando en zoológicos con todos los cuidados necesarios son animales que deberían estar en libertad, no servir de espectáculo para nuestro gozo y disfrute.

Tal vez la mayoría de estos animales no tengan la misma conciencia que tenemos lo seres humanos - aunque eso no quiere decir que no sepan lo que se les está haciendo -, pero eso no es una excusa para arrancarlos de su hábitat natural y encerrarlos en espacios tan pequeños, donde sufren, se estresan y, en muchos casos, se acaban volviendo locos debido al cautiverio.

Son muchos los animales que han demostrado su disconformidad con esta situación, ya sea intentando escapar de su confinamiento o revelándose contra sus cuidadores. Los osos son especialmente propensos a dar evidencias de su discrepancia a la hora de estar encerrados.

El vídeo que vamos a ver a continuación lo protagoniza Vicks, un oso polar que se encuentra en las instalaciones de un zoo situado en Rotterdam. Las imágenes hablan por si solas aunque pueden tener varias interpretaciones. ¿Estaba Vicks solo jugando o es una prueba de que no quiere estar ahí?

Realmente solo Vicks sabe lo que piensa acerca de su encierro, pero nosotros no creemos que lo prefiera a poder vagar libremente por las tierras del Ártico.
